Show Unsung heroes recognised By CHERIE HUBER Interesting, isn't it how a little bad weather can bring out the best in people. Here's a little salute to a few of the many wonderful people in Davis County who are quietly helping their neighbors. Some people in Centerville get out in the morning to find that the walks outside have already been cleared. One of the early birds out clearing walks is Jim "Sarge" Nel son. Probably most people in the neighborhood have no idea he does it. In Bountiful, David Denson does the same thing. One of his grateful neighbors said, "I thought for the longest time it was the tooth fairy, until I finally saw him out there." Another salute should go to the unidentified trucker running bobtail bob-tail who went off into the deep snow at the Centerville on-ramp rather than risk hitting a motorist who was losing control on the icy ramp. Then there's another driver who was at Trailsides in Farmington on that snowy Tuesday morning. He good-naturedly complained that he had to dig himself out of snow banks twice to avoid collisons with other motorists. It's all right to complain but keep on being the good guy! Of course, there were lots ot people all across Davis County helping their neighbors and stranded motorists. That's part of what makes Davis County one of the greatest places in the world to live! There are plenty more good Samaritans doing little quiet acts of kindness every day. Let's give them the credit they deserve. If you want to report on a special good neighbor or even a stranger who you see helping someone, call Cherie Huber at the Davis County Clipper, 295-2251. The Clipper wants to give them at least a tiny bit of the credit they deserve." |
