Show HURRICANE Sirs. Thomas Ilinton (AUXT MIX A) Reporter The first and second grades presented pre-sented a program on Friday in the elerftentary school under the direction of Mrs. Lilian Workman and Miss Luetta Imlay. Those attending were especially impressed impress-ed with the way in which all of the children did their parts. The program was in the form of a spring musical festival and all of the children took part in songs, speaking parts or other spring activities. Miss Dorothy Webb, who is cm-ployed cm-ployed at Hill Field is spending the week home from Salt Lake City with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Webb. Mrs. Milton Holt and daughter, Millie, of Gun-lock Gun-lock are also visiting with them. Paul Gates went to Salt Lake City on business Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Niel Heywood and family of Las Vegas visited over Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Heywood. They celebrated Mother's Moth-er's Day and also Mr. Heywood's 67th birthday anniversary. Walter Cannon and Mr. and Mrs. Woodruff Cannon of St. George and Martin Anderson and mother of Los Angeles visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Webb and their mother, Mrs. Rhoda Cannon, who is ill. Miss Barbara Tweedic, who is secretary in the OPA office in gait Lake City came home for the commencement exercises and to spend Mother's Day with her mother, Mrs. Flora T. Reber. The South ward building committee com-mittee are sponsoring a celebration celebra-tion on May 30 to raise money to build a chapel. There will be soft ball games in the afternoon and a dance at night. They will sell ice-cream, strawberries and cake. Mrs. Merlin Hirschi entertained at the ladies Pinochle club on Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Ballard received a telegram Monday from their son, TSgl. Calvin Ballard saying. 'Back in U.S.A. Feeling fine furlough soon, Love, Calvin." Mrs. George Imlay received word fron-u. her husband, Pvt. George Imlay that he will report to Fort Douglas for reassignment after six weeks training at Camp McQuaid. Calif. Y2c Reed Heywood of Mare Island, Calif., is home on furlough before going overseas. He is the son of John Heywood. The North ward Flders had a rousing party and lunch at Duncan Dun-can Flat Monday night. Both the North and South wards held very appropriate and interesting Mother's Day programs pro-grams 'Sunday morning combined with prayer and thanksgiving services ser-vices in keeping with the proclamation proclam-ation of the President, the Governor Gover-nor and the general church authorities. Mrs. Chine Beatty has returned from Salt Lake City where she has spent, the past three months visiting with her daughters. Mrs. Lester Barnum, the former Vilate Beatty, received a letter from her husband, Pvt. Lester Barnum of the infantry that he Is doing O.K., but is in a hospital in the Marianas. He was wounded in the invasion of Okinawa. Ivan Johnson anil family are here visiting Willi tils parents, Mr. anil Mrs. Frank Johnson, lie is employed with the government surveyors. Mis. James Cornelius, the for- mer LaPrele Isom was happily surprised Saturday to have her husband, Cpl. James Cornelius come home on furlough from San Francisco. Dr. E. Clark Mclntire was called call-ed to Ogdcn Saturday to the bedside of his mother, who is seriously ill. Walter Brooks and Robert Langston attended the track meet in Salt Lake City where Robert won first place in the shot put. |
