Show BEAR LAKE'S BEAUTIES And the Delightful Pleasures at that Resort. Something about Capt. Myers. In planning where to spend their vacation, those who enjoy camping and all that Is beautiful In nature should not fall to consider the advantages advan-tages now Offered at Hear Lake. Tho editor has no Interest In booming this resort only for the reason that we know It to be a most delightful place to spend from one to three weeks. For beauty, tho lake Itself will compare moro than favorably with anything cast of the Rockies, and the trip through Logan canyon is well worth anyone's time. The scenery in tho canyon is picturesque from start to finish, and a view of tho lake from the ridge of the divide Is itself worth the trip. Fully eighteen miles In the distance dis-tance the Incomparable stretch of blue looks to be almost at one's feet, at least within hailing distance and where, oh where under, the blue can-opener can-opener of heaven can one find such another an-other blue as that lake? When one arrives at this beautiful body of water it is found to be perfectly fresh and while rather cold, bathing can be Indulged In-dulged in to one's hearts' content.Tho beaches are sandy and furnish splendid footing. The lake also abounds in fish, some of which are foolish enough to bo caught by even greater fools than they, which makes fishing an easy matter for all. And as affairs arc now arranged it Is possible to get Into a "bus" here in the morning, land at "Mycrskamp" at night, engage a tent and for a dollar a day spend a most delightful vacation free from all care and worry. "Mycrskamp" Is a tent resort about 2 miles south of Fishaven and Is presided over by Captain Myers. Tho "kamp" Is most admirably situated In a shady grove of large area which has been cleaned up and worked upon to such an extent that It Is ideal. Here It is that Capt.Myers holds forth with electric launch, sail and row-boats, tents and a first-class cook, and If the "old boy" can't make you have a good time, nobody can. If Myers takes a liking to you he will prove the greatest great-est whole-souled, accommodating, doting dot-ing fellow you ever met with, and nothing will too good for you. And, by the way, If you should ever make tho trip to tho lake, don't fail to ingratiate yourself with the old sea dog to such an extent that he will take you over to his "bore's nest" across the lake. Myers is artistic at everything, even his swearing, and In the nest referred to has one of the most conveniently arranged and artistically artis-tically constructed hunter's cabins ever devised. Tho walls and ceilings am of canvass art squares, put on by a master hand, and the decorations In way of skins and deor leg supporters Is about proper. If you once get Inside, In-side, ask Myers to show you how that patent, self-cocking, pivot motion, wireless spring, brccch-loading, back action folding bed works. This unique contrivance Is another marvel of Myers' ingenuity, nnd as it stands in one corner of the front parlor, appears to be an artistic piece of furniture put there merely as an ornament, but by the pressuro of a button the affair tumbles down, reveals Itself as a bed lit for the Sultan and al most begs for an occupant. We saw' this affair a year ago and aro willing to wager wa-ger that by this time Myers has added to the bed some contrivance whereby ho Is now grabbed as soon he enters tho rooms is disrobed and put to bed with a took hi one hand, a lighted clgrcttc in the other, and has tho pages turned automatically. Nor Is this bed the only romarkablo Invention In this wonderful "nest," tho grate In one corner being as convenient con-venient In its way as the bed. Myers may bo in a manner "off tho earth," still he can have hot water or cold water by turning a spigot and In less than two 'minutes can draw you a cup of tea such as was never browed In a Fifth Avcnuo mansion. Just "llsh around" until Myers asks you to havo some refreshments, and wo will wug.r a thirty-cent pleco that he will bring from that larder In tho north-east cornei such a lot of good things that you will be more than surprised. About 12 p. m. is the time to catch Myers in the best shape for such a spread. And before you finally take leave of this Interesting place, Just make a break for the back rooms when the Capt. Isn't watching and sec his musical Instruments, plies of llsh nets, lines, and the ship building apparatus that Is there, and ir ou can persuade him to do so, havo him open up that pipe organ and perform awhile. Capt. Myers Is modest and does not publish his accomplishments, but If he cared to do so, he can give you a pipe organ concert that will compare favorably with anything McClellan does on tho big tabernacle organ at Salt Lake. When the genial mariner feels that no one Is within hearing, tho mountains on the cast of the lake resound with melody almost dlvlne,4and It Is this Inlluencc that has made of Quit Ncbcker, (eight miles south at Lakctown) the great, good fellow he Is. And thats Just a reminder that you must get acquainted acquaint-ed with Myer's pets one, a great line Thomas cat, Is named Qull Nebckcr and another of the same specie, answers an-swers readily to the call of HenJ. Harrison. Two civilized Uclglan hares are dubbed Harriet Hcccher Stowc and Henry Ward Hcccher, and a hundred chickens will come to tho landing us soon as they hear the thistle of Myers old tug when four miles out in the lake. Tho chickens are shy when strangers are near and seldom show their loving affection in this way, but at Myer's request the wholo bunch of hens will repair to the barn and lay two eggs apiece, and If you get awav without taking a dozen of the freshly laid eggs, you'll have to whip the captain. And while you are at tho lake don't miss the opportunity of going entirely around It In the Captains "tub" as he calls It. The "tub," Is In reality, a daintily upholstered little pleasure craft that travels at a pretty fair speed, and In which you can spend a day most delightfully. The Captain will provide you with every late periodical, peri-odical, magazine or novel, for he is an Inveterate reader and has the latest nnd best. There arc lockers In the boat for food supplies, and we'll wager that Myers always has Ice on hand. If you arc undecided where to go, don't think any moro about it but get up a crowd and go to Hear Lake. Stanton will take jou up and bring you back for $." apiece, seven days at Mycrskamp will cost you 7, board, tent and all, and you will havo spent but $12 for a week of tho most delightful outing you ever had. You can't get out of town for less than that hardly, and It certainly seems that'thls affords a most glorious opportunity. |
