The academy choir, indeed, do very fine. Their singing at the 8:15. o'clock muss is superb, and the sisters merit much praise in the training of these sweet voices. Our worthy pastor and th" congregation are delighted with the Young Ladies' choir. Miss Frances Keegan and Miss Delia English have kindly consented to be orrespondent for the Intermountain Catholic. Miss Keegan will do the honors hon-ors on the north side and Miss English on the south sid. We are sure that our readers will be pleased to hear this. The young ladies of the academy will also give our readers some very inter-" inter-" eating items of the academy, school, c m vent, hospital and church. This our readers will appreciate. LEADVILLE. Mis. Edv-ard A. Horner returned from Denver last week-Mrs. week-Mrs. Gallagher. of East Seventh street, is dangerously ill. Rev. Fitzgoiald, of Iowa, was the guest of Father Gibbons. Tom Fitzsimmons will leave for Arizona Ari-zona in the near future. Mrs. Joe Doyle of West Seventh street, who has been very ill, is now convalescent. Miss Margarett Meiley has returned home from Cripple Creek, where she has been visiting relatives. Gameti and music made the evening , pass all too soon, and a lunch, consisting consist-ing of the usual light refreshments, was served. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Terry Connors, Mr. and Mrs. Dwyer, Mioses Mary and Katie Walsh, Stella Jones and Nellie O'Maliey; Messrs. Ed Serht. Ed Moor, Austin O'Maliey and others. A large number or the friends of Miss Nt-Hie McNichols. of East Seventh street, surprised her last Wednesday evening. Baskets containing good things to be eaten were carried by all the young people and provided a delicious de-licious lunch later in the evening. The evening was spent with games, music ! and dancing, until at a late hour the I guests departed for their homes, much 'leased with the evening's enjoyment. Last week, while workinar on the pipe line about twenty-five feet above the j bottom of the shaft at the p. a. M., S. E. Carry, a pumpman, slipped and foil, striking on the sinker at the bottom bot-tom of the shaft, which was directly below him. His left ankle is badly spraincd and his back injured, and he roccived a number of bruises and sprains, but is expected to recover jn a short time. j ST. PATRICK'S, PUEBLO. Mr. P. Dempsy and daughter have returned from the East. Miss Etta Kretchmer is in the city for a short visit from her school at i Peulah. Mr. and Mrs. lally gave a reception to their cousin. Mr. Robert Parret, of the "Alabama" company, who is an actor of no small ability. The ladies of the parish gave a very delightful social in the school rooms. There was quite a large crowd. Everybody Every-body enjoyed themselves. It is hoped there will be more such socials. Miss Jennie Crow, who has been visiting vis-iting her friends. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Crow, of Berkley avenue, has returned to her home in Jolic-t. 111. Miss Crow-made Crow-made quite a number of friends during her brief stay in Pueblo. The Marqtiette Club of St. Patrick's I Parish is a thing of the past. Had it j existed but one month longer it would have been a two-year-old, which wouid be older than any other Catholic society so-ciety of its kind in Pueblo. The musical club which is being or-j or-j ganized in the parish promises to be a great success. It will be under the able direction of Mrs. Murphy and has the best talent in the parish, which is in srme cases the best in the city. j The. aspiring Thespians of Pueblo appeared at the Grand in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." It ' was the first time in the history of I Pueblo where amateurs acted in a play j of the Paid of Avon. The party which Miss Nellie Crow I tendered her friend. Casley, Mona-han, Mona-han, Fountain and Sullivan. VICTOR. A requiem mass was celebrated Wednesday Wed-nesday morning. Oct. 11, by Rev. Father Downey at St. Victor's Church, for the repose of the soul ;f Father Brown. It j was the first anniversary of his death. ! A large number of his former parish-' parish-' loners from Leadville attended mass. The Rev. Father Brown and Father j j Downey were classmates in New York, j Oct. 13, Feast of St. Edward, also our po a tor's name. Mass was celebrated in his honor at S::J0 a. m.. with a large attendance. Hugh Rae and Miss Anna Bulger were married at 8:30 on the evening of the 10th, Father Downey officiating. Both are well known Victor young people, the groom being employed em-ployed at the Portland mine. They will begin housekeeping at 413 Alamo street. |
