Show IOWA'S FALLING OFF IN FARMS Washington, Nov. 2 During tho last decade Iowa has shown material decreases In the total number of Its farms, farmers and the extent of farm acreage, but these losses are overshadowed over-shadowed by the enormous increases In the value of farm land, implements and buildings .and the expend 'tares for farm labor. These facts are set forth in a statement Issued by the census bureau regarding Iowa's agricultural agri-cultural statistics derived from the recent re-cent census of agriculture as a iart of the thirteenth decennial census. "This felling ofi' in tho number of farms," the statement says, "is one that has been anticipated by all students stud-ents of ncrlcultural cond Hons in Iowa and is believed to correspond quitf closely with an anticipated decrease in the rural population in the state. "The farm acreage reported In 91. Is 33.9o5.OnO as compared with 31.-571,000 31.-571,000 In 1900, a decrease of GG9,OuO acres, or 1.9 per cent." |
