The convention will be held at ! the? Hotel Utah. : Ovr 1,050 stores will be represented represent-ed in the eleven district conventions t which will be held during the next ! five weeks in the most central loca-j loca-j tlons throughout the United States. ' "The buying of all merchandise for each store is done by the local man-a'cer, man-a'cer, said Mr. Pool. "Extensive assortments of all lines of '.nercliandise are presented at the convention by the buyers irom me New York headquarters who are specialists' spec-ialists' in their particular lines of merchandise, and who are engaged every day of the year in sifting out of the markets the smartest styles and the most outstanding values. "A very rigid policy of the J. C. Penney company is maintained constantly, con-stantly, in the buying of only such merchandise .which measures up to an exceptionally high standard of quality- "During these conventions, the merchandise is selected by each man ager, which in his judgment is most suitable for the respective store, and by a daily contact throughout the year between every store in the chain with these highly specialized buying departments, the very latest in style and the most outstanding values are consantly maintainde." The facts which Mr. Pool gives regarding re-garding the growth of the J. C. Penney Pen-ney company are very interesting. He states that since the establishment of the first store by iir. J. C. Penney in the little mining town of K: inmerer, Wyoming, 25 and one-haif years a'.o, 1,025 stores are in actual operation i and the sales quota of ?1 1)0,000, C00 which the company hn sot for t!i year, will in all probability be accomplished. |
