Show bedding Bells. Cards were received during the week announcing the marriage of William E. Cole and Miss Nellie Agnes Casey, which will take place in St. Joseph's church, Pittsfield, Mass., on Wednesday, Wednes-day, Oct. 8. The groom is Captain William Wil-liam Cole, U. S. A., and is a Utah man. having, entered West Point from this state. He was raised in Box Elder county, where his parents still reside, i He graduated from the military acad-' acad-' emy in 1898, and is attached to the artillery ar-tillery branch of the army. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. Casey. She is a very charming girl with hosts of friends. The young couple will be at home at Barracas Falls, Fla., after Nov. 1, where the captain's company is located. lo-cated. " A large and fashionable gathering filled St. Mark's cathedral Wednesday night to witness the marriage of Miss Lena Preston to Mr. Christopher B. Diehl. The ceremony was performed at 9 o'clock by the Rev. Mr. Perkins of St. Paul's church, and immediately after the young people left for a trip to Portland and the coast.' - The church was beautifully decorated with white and pale green, and the chancel was completely transformed. Palms and ferns made a most effective background for the pure white flowers which formed the decoration. At the hour of 9 the bridal party entered, en-tered, passing up the aisle to the strains of the "Bridal Chorus" from Lohengrin. First came the ushers. Judge Dana T. Smith. Mr. T v. Par sons, Mr. Walter Little and Mr. Harry S. Knight. The maid of honor, Miss Dern, came next, walking alone, and last the bride leaning on the arm of her brother, Mr. Horatio Preston .of Salida, Colo. Awaiting the party at the steps of the altar were the groom and his best man, Mr. George Ripley, and as the bride approached, the mm-ister mm-ister read the betrothal service, after which the bride, being presented by her brother, the party proceeded to th? chancel, where the marriage ceremony cere-mony proper was read. During th service Mr. Peabody played Nevin's "Narcissus," and as the prayer was ended the strains of the wedding march by Mendelssohn poured forth, and with the chiming of the cathedral bell made merry music for the happy pair. The bride wore an exquisite gown if white crepe de chine over taffeta, with an overdress of white silk Brussels net and silk apDliaue: A hndsnm vn of white tulle fastened with a cluster of orange blossoms completed her costume, cos-tume, and with this she carried a shower show-er bouauet of bride's roses. Miss Dern's gown was of white also, and she carried a bouquet of pink bridesmaid's roses. ' Mr. and Mrs. Diehl will return shortly to make their home in the city. |
