Show Obituary. O'Meara. Mrs. Patrick O'Meara died Thursday, Nov. ."). of heart failure, at the residence resi-dence of her son, W. P. O'Meara, 8fi6 East Erigham street, at the age of 75 years. Brief as the foregoing is, it marked the last chapter of a beautiful, exem- plary life. Mrs. Patrick O'Meara was born in Roscrc-a. Tipperary county, Ireland, in 1S27. She came to this country with i her parents when a girl and settled in Illinois'. While there she married Patrick Pat-rick O'Meara. Eleven years ago the family came to Utah and Mrs. 0:iWeara has been in Salt Lake most of the time j since then. She was the mother of six children, three of whom are now living. liv-ing. Her eldest son. Carrol T. O'Meara, died in this city about six years ago. Two other children died in infancy. The remaining children are W. P. O'Meara, the well known mining and real estate man of this city; M. J. : O'Meara. who is also interested in business here, and Miss Frances O'Meara. j The father died about a year ago in i Los Angeles, Cal.. and since that time i Mrs. O'Meara has been failing steadily. stead-ily. It was at this time thnt the beautiful traits of her character were more truly shown. Her accustomed cheerfulness never forsook her and she bravely tried to bear the loss of her noble husband. During the few days preceding her death she seemed slightly Improved, j but the end was inevitable and her j perfect resignation and child-like con- 1 fidence was truly edifying. Conscious i to the last, surrounded by her -devoted I children, and with Rt. Rev. Bishop 1 Scanlan present, her pure soul entered I into the eternal rest she , so richly , earned. j Her death was a painful shock. Although Al-though of a quiet, retiring nature, she possessed hosts of friends. She was in every sense the highest type of Christian womanhood, thoroughly devoted de-voted to her church, her family and home. The funeral took place on Saturdav morning from St. Mary's cathedral where solemn pontifical high mass was celebrated by Rt. Rev. Bishop Scanlan, with Rev. Father Morrissey as deacon. Rev. Father Bulfamente as . sub-deacon and Rev. Father Donovan as master of ceremonies. Rev. Father Fa-ther Curran assisted in the sanctuary and performed the burial services at the cemetery. . . The Gregorian requiem was . well rendered by a. double quartette from! the cathedral choir. Miss Owen, so- j prano. rendered . "One Sweetly Solemn I Thought." by Ambrose, with much feeling, and the music throughout 'was I of the highest order. The attendance at the services was the largest seen at any funeral at St. Mary's for a long time, hosts of friends attending-to pay their last tribute of respect and affection. Not one of the.- large congregation will ever forget- the sincere tribute paid to her memory by Bishop Scanian, who was her personal friend. She was tenderly laid to rest , in Mount Calvary . cemetery, but the many beautiful floral offerings- were, in accordance with her dying request, placed on the altars, the lovely blossoms blos-soms being typical of the sweet fragrance fra-grance of her weir spent -life. Upon the conclusion of the requiem mass, followed by the last offices of the church. Bishop Scanlan addressed the j congregation. He said: |
