Department of Agriculture Agricul-ture Weather Bureau has issued a "snowfall bulletin" for 1'tah which states that on January 31, 1917, there were three feet of snow in the mountains adjacent to Milford. School closes at Delta Del-ta early this month. The discovery of a fire under a small bridge on the Salt Lake Route near Barclay station a few nights since possibly prevented a serious accident to No. 7. A train crew passing pass-ing discovered the blaze and extinguished extin-guished the flames. The origin of the fire is unknown but will probably be carefully investigated. Barclay station is a few miles north of Cali-ente. Cali-ente. J. Herbert Hunt, representing the Studebaker Bros. Co., of Utah with headquarters in Salt Lake City was In Milford this week and with County Agent Bill Martin was rounding up prospective purchasers Joseph W. Johnson, sheep inspector for Beaver County, who owns a large flock of the valuable producers of warm clothes himself, was a purchaser of a new Studebaker four of the touring tour-ing type. Alfred Merritt, of Duluth, Minnesota, Minne-sota, one of the officials and large stockholders of the Red Warrior Mining Company, was in Milford the first of the week. Mr. Merritt is greatly pleased at the progress made at the mine. Owing to the continued contin-ued improvement in the showing made, the stock of the Red Warrior has advanced on the New York exchange ex-change from 25 cents to over one dollar dol-lar in two months. |
