Show Not "Upon Their Heads" New York police report the death of fourteen persons from poison alcohol and the tragedy is strongly reminiscent of prohibition prohi-bition days when people in various vari-ous sections of the nation lost their lives while trying some new drink. The death of individuals is a matter of regret, whatever the j cause, but there is no excuse I whatever for the silly assertion of Timothy P. Guiney, president of the Kings County Liquor Dealers Association, that the deaths could have been averted if the "powers in Washington" had released re-leased grain alcohol for beverage bever-age purposes" and that the failure fail-ure of officials to do this put the deaths "upon their heads." Such nonsense indicates that there are liquor dealers who learn nothing and take cognizance cogniz-ance of nothing except their thirst and desire for profits. |
