Show Elementary News The entire elementary school building is decorated in keeping with the Yuletide season. Both halls and class rooms. We would be very happy to have as many people as possible visit us during this time. Miss Hopkin's First Grade We are getting ready for Christmas. Christ-mas. We have made some pretty pictures for our room. We have a Christmas tree. We are going to have a program for our mothers and fathers the day before Christmas. Christ-mas. We are working very hard. Mrs. Pitchforth's Second Grade Our Christmas tree is here. We are making many things to put on it. It is very pretty and we are very happy. We have our room decorated and our borders up.. We are having our room program next week. We hope our parents will come to it. Miss Morris' Second Grade We are all very busy and happy preparing for Christmas. We have one corner of our room full of sacred things. We made a border of shepherds and wise men following the Star. We arranged ar-ranged our littl-3 figures of the Christ-Child, shepherds, wjsemen and Angels on a table covered with white. We painted a picture of the Virgin and Child on the blackboard and we hung pictures of the Madonna and Christ-Child. We liked it very much because it reminds us of why we have Christmas. Christ-mas. We also have a border of Santa Claus and his reindeer and a Christmas tree. We are making presents for our parents and preparing a program for our mothers. Miss Bradford's Third Grade We are busy getting ready for Santa Claus' visit. We have decorated our room with a border about Christmas in Old England. This is the Christmas we are representing rep-resenting in the school Christmas program. We have made a scene about bringing in the Yule log and another showing the carollers of Old England. We also have scenes about the birth of Christ and the wisemen. We have a very pretty Christmas Christ-mas tree with a big star on top. The large poinsetta on our library table is in bloom. This helps to make more Christmas decorations in our room. We are learning Christmas poems. By Christmas we hope to have learned as many poems as there are boys and girls in our room. Miss Foremaster's Fourth Grade We are studying about Holland and trying to get all of the information infor-mation that we can about how they celebrate Christmas. We are also studying about rocks and attempting to classify them. We have been composing original poems. Here are two of the best ones: CHRISTMAS IN HOLLAND By Iris Woodbury Saint Nick comes in Holland, ' Same as he does here, He is a jolly fellow, And he comes once every year. CHRISTMAS By George F. Woodbury They do not hang up stockings, Such as American children do, But they have just as much fun, Cause Santa fills each wooden shoe. Miss sorenson's Fourth Grade We have been studying about Christmas in Holland. We like our study of Holland very much. Their Christmas comes on December 5 instead of December 25. We have a border showing Christmas in Holland and also one showing Christmas in our own country. On our front board we have the shepherds, the three wisemen and the city of Bethlehem. Bethle-hem. On our west board we have windmills, dutch boys and girls skating, St. Nick and the stork. The Dutch believe that a stork on their roof brings good luck. Miss Seegmiller's Fifth Grade We have our one hundred spelling spell-ing words and thirteen got perfect scores. They are: Gay Graff, Paul La Mar Wilkin, Erlene Church, Lloyd Iverson, Dixon Bradford, Chyrrel Heaton, Bobby Cannon, Shirl Bunting, Erma Woodbury, Junior McGregor and Sharlene Snow. We have our Christmas tree and many of the boys and girls are bringing gifts to put on it. The school is having a Christmas Christ-mas program, it will be in the Tabernacle the Wednesday before Christmas, the French Christmas, i Mr. Cannon's Sixth Grade This week we are starting a new project on different foods and their value. Next week in the school play, "Christmas among the nations", we are going to represent repre-sent Russia. We have a Christmas tree in our room. There will be a basketball tournament tour-nament held here between Southern South-ern Utah and North Eastern Nevada next February and we are preparaing for it. |
