There were many Americans and Englishmen Eng-lishmen among them It has been the custom at the monks for many centuries never lo demand any payment for hospitality, hos-pitality, the departing guests depositing de-positing In a collection box at tho entrance of the monastery whatever what-ever amount they wish as a voluntary vol-untary offering. The monks received the Too visitors to whom they supplied a warm supper Including wine, while some of them electing to remain there for the night were provided with beds. Tho guests having departed next morning, the Treasurer , Monk opened the collection box ! at the gate. He found 15 franca in it. j |
