Show Officials Plan Thompson Meet For Discussion State and local tourism officials of-ficials will be meeting next week in Thompson to discuss the location of the proposed travel information center. The meeting, as announced by Les Rogers in Tuesday's Chamber of Cqmrnerce meeting meet-ing is scheduled for Thursday, Thurs-day, Sept. 18. It will be held at the State Highway Department De-partment Building in Thompson Thomp-son at 1 p.m. In addition to discussing the future location loca-tion of the travel center, the meeting will also deal with the retaining of the old Valley City road on the county system to tie in with the proposed Book Cliffs road. Representatives from the TraVel Corporation will be in attendance at the meeting meet-ing as fellnp cmf shrdemfwf Council Chairman ! Murray Moler and staff man Milt Jolley. Other officials expected ex-pected to be in attendance at that meeting wiE be representatives rep-resentatives of the Highway Department, Grand and San Juan County Commissioners and Chamber of , Commerce officials from both counties. The continuation of the highway fencing project was announced by Harold Jacobs at Tuesday's meeting. A large community effort: is being planned at finishing the project that was started last year. The first portion of the fence was put in from south of Crescent Junction to Courthouse Wash. Materials Mater-ials for the remaining portion por-tion of the fence are available except for the cattle, guards. Volunteers will be sought to finish putting up that fence. The need was brought up at the Chamber meeting for the jlacing of signal lights at both Third South in Moab, and at the junction of Cane Creek Boulevard with Main Street. The latter street will be more, heavily used now that the Fifth West bridge .and new surfacing of the street are completed. |
