L '" '.-.--.-.- .. - - js . ; , - '. . : . ..A . . ; . v 'v ' ' Over two hundred students were in attendance at-tendance at the first social event of the Student Activities Open New Year For Grand CountyHigh School School opened last week with an assembly Thursday, September 4 and a dance Saturday September 6. The assembly was conducted conduct-ed by Jim Koegh, student body president and the new Varsity Cheerleaders, Ginger Gin-ger Arehart, Diny Foy, Lynn Brechtel, MoNene Nordfelt, Cindy Walterscheid, and the year, the "Hello" dance. The first assembly of the year was held Friday, September 5. new Red Devil mascot, Dana Nordfelt. Principal Leland Teoples then announced that because of pre-registration last spring, that registration went smoother this year than ho has seen it in 10 years. Ha also introduced the faculty and office personel. Don Taylor, Tay-lor, studentbody Vice-Presi- dent, talked about the new .school policies and Sherry Oliver, student body sec, reviewed school policies on electing class officers. The Varsity Cheerleaders then lead a few cheers and introduced a Devils fight song which is new this year. A small program was presented pre-sented by Sandra Bastian, Sharon Patterson, and Caroline Car-oline Johnson, in which they sang a song writen by a former GCHS student, Sue Jensen. This was followed by introduction of veteran football foot-ball coach, Glen Rieheson who talked about the recent Wasatch Academy game and other games to be played this year. Coach Del Ford, Junior Varsity football coach talked about the upcoming J.V. games. Saturday nights dance was a "Hello Dance" which proved prov-ed to be a great success with over 200 students attending. Music was provided by the Midnight Reflections, a local lo-cal band. |
