Show Redman Co. to Hold Formal S. H. Opening Thirty-seven years after its founding, the Redman Van & Storage Company will celebrate the formal opening of one of the most modern "storage depositories" depos-itories" in the United States when the executives and employes em-ployes of the company greet the public Monday night from 6 to 8 at the new building, 1240 East 21st South. According to Dilworth S. Woolley, vice president and general gen-eral manager, a study was started start-ed by the company several years ago to find a central location for their storage building. Extensive Ex-tensive research showed Sugar House to be the center of city population. Mr. Woolley pointed point-ed out that much of Salt Lake's 40,000 increase in population during the war was located east of 9th East and south of 17th South. The founder's son, B. F. Redman Red-man Jr., president of the company, com-pany, will head the list of 67 executives and emplpyes who will be present at the opening Monday night. Fred G. Redman, Red-man, vice president, Mr. Wool-ley, Wool-ley, and Arvid J. Johnson, treasurer, treas-urer, will also be present to greet guests. The public is cordially invited, Mr. Woolley announced. Land and improvements have cost $193,000, Mr. Woolley said. He pointed out tlhat tone company com-pany felt the necessity of spending spend-ing an extra amount to make the building a distinctive landmark in the southeast. The aim, according ac-cording to Mr.' Woolley,' has" been to combine architectural beauty with the latest in storage stor-age safety facilities. There are five floors and a basement, with space for rental of three front offices or stores, in addition to the Redman office. Construction was started June, 1946, and completed this spring. Finishing touches on the interior were completed this week. Architects for the building are Ashton & Evans. The builder is Ellis W. Barker Co. |
