Show Clarion Sponsors Novel Grid Scoring Contest Football prognosticators throughout through-out the county were expected to sharpen their wits this week as the first weekly football contest of the season to be sponsored each week by the Cache Valley Clarion sports departnieut'was announced. Heading the list of twelve games will be the annual grid battle between be-tween the Preston high school Indians In-dians and their traditional rivals the Malad High Dragons. Eleven other games of local and national importance rounds out the list. Open to everyone except employees em-ployees and families of employees oT the Cache Valley Clarion, the contest is expected to prove of much interest to local sports lovers lov-ers and will give opportunity for them to try their skill at the "guessing game." To the person winning first place in the contest will go a two dollar cash prize and one free theatre ticket. Second and third prizes will each receive two free theatre tickets while the next five place winners in order will receive one free show ticket. Place winners will be determined by the ones correctly guessing the winners in the most number of games. However, when ties occur, oc-cur, the winner will be determined by the one coming closest to the exact score of the starred game. Tha starred game for this week is the Preston-Malad encounter. Entrants should write the score of the starred game in the boxes opposite the two teams starred. In all other games the winning team only should be checked. In case ties wish to be indicated you should check both boxes opposite the two teams you think will tie. Entries may be either mailed or brought directly to the Clarion. This week's contest includes games of October 4, and 5. Additional blanks may be secured at this office. |
