Show PRIMARY I ELECTOIN San Francisco Has Voted Charter Amendments of Importance San Francisco, Nov. 16. BesideB the charter amendment authorizing the Issuance of $5,000,000 city bunds for the Panama-Pacific exposition to be held here In 1915, and which carried car-ried by a large majority, several other important amendments were adopted nt yesterday's local electlou. By a vote of 4 to 1, it was determined deter-mined that hereafter the mayor, county coun-ty clerk, district attorney, supervisors and otber city and county officers phall sene terms of four years Instead j of two. All candidates' names must go on the ballot at primary elections without with-out party designation and the names . shall bo rotated to give each an equal position on the printed ticket. Tho two candidates receiving the highest number of votes shall bo declared the nominees regardless of party lines. In the event of any candidate for uonil-I uonil-I nation receiving a majority tote, his I title to office shall have been established estab-lished without the necessity for fur-I fur-I ther contest at the .general election. I An amendment providing for what I Is regarded as a more effective pro- cess for wielding the initiative, referendum refer-endum and recall was also carried. |
