Show OLD FOLKS ENJOY ORPH SK01 Between five and six lnindred of old folks of Weber county and their attendants enjoyed the hospitality of Manager J F. Goss at the Orpheura matinee yesterday afternoon. An excellent ex-cellent bill had been prepared for their entertainment and they certain )y enjoyed themselves. By two o'clock the old folks could be seen coming from all directions, alighting from buggies, wagons anil street cars, wearing their badges or red, blue and white, indicating their ages as 70, SO, f0 or over. So far as practicable, those over So and 90 were seated In the boxes. 1 Alter the opening overture by the orchestra at 2.15 p. m. Bishop James Ta lor, of the Ogden Tenth ward, pave an address of welcome to the old folks. During the course of his remarks he heartily endorsed the Orphcum olferlngs as a clean, wholesome whole-some means of entertainment and recommended re-commended that fathers and mothers j might send their children to the per-j per-j formances without fear of any de-j de-j grading effect whatever, he speaker I on behalf of the old folks, also thanked thank-ed the Orpheum management for the hospitality which had beeu extended. A large number of those in attendance atten-dance had never before witnessed a performance at the Orpheum aod not a few sat In a theater for the first time in their lives. The oldest person In attendance was a lady who was near-j near-j inft the century mark In life's path- 1 way. Her name could not bo learned. It was an enjoyable afternoon for the veterans who appreciated the kindness of the Orpheum manage- i meut In thus extending to them this entertainment free of charge. The j Old Folk's committee desire to thank I the management for their kisdness and also the Ogden Rapid Transit company, who held its lines open to the old folks, even running a special train from Pain City and vicinity for . their accommodation. |
