Senator Burrows, chairman of tho Committee on Privileges and Jiloctlons, tonight dictated tlio following fol-lowing to Tho Tribune correspondent: "There will bo no unnecessary delay In tho Investigation of tho case of Reed Smoot On the contrary, it will be prosecuted prose-cuted with diligence and with n view to bringing the matter to a conclusion at the earliest possible moment. Much depends upon tho ability to oecuro tho attendance of witnesses, which are deemed important und IndlHpeiiHable. "I hope tho mattor can be concluded before be-fore final adjournment of thin session of Congress."
