It U not worth tho time und money It takes to properly treat these trees. In cases where tho tree can still be treated tho cavity thould be X. scraped and cleaned of all dead wood, then give tho cavity a thorough wash-i0 wash-i0 fng or spraying with a tolution ot cop- per sulphate. This solution, applied to all parts of the cavity, wl.l kill all the remaining rot spores. Now the cavity Is ready to be filled with a ce- i i mr.t,. WtilgUiluJ-Ualng .one part of cement ce-ment to three parts of clean, sharp sand. This Is packed Into the cavity, filling It to one loth of tho finished surface, and thon apply a covering of one part cement to ono part sand. This Is put on so as to bring the tilling to a smooth surface, making It conform to the contour of tho tree trunk. A coat of coal tar may le applied ap-plied to discolor the cement and aid In making tho Ailing water tight. |
