Show Pacific Mill Goes inlo Steady Operation First Concentrates Brought Here For Shipment Thursday. The new flotation unit and concentrate con-centrate mill at the Pacific Gold Mining and Milling company is now under steady operation having been going continuously since July 23rd. For ten days previous it operated partial time while adjustments were being made after starting. It will now continue in operation until winter wint-er weather shuts it down as plenty ot ore seems to be in sight. The mill is under the direct management man-agement of E. D. Davis, of Tooele, who is a practical mill man. He is using six men, two to each shift. With the mill wTrights and the crew o ten miners the total personnel at the property is now twenty-two. Flotation Unit Added The addition of a flotation unit, ore conveyor and other minor units the old mill has been converted into a modern flotation plant from which some exceedingly fine concentrates are being produced. The present concentrates are running run-ning 60 per cent lead and from 28 to 30 ounces in silver. Between five and six tons are being run out each day. Ore is being used both from the large dump and direct from the mine. Handling of Ore Interesting The handling of the mill ore is very interesting. The rock is dumped dump-ed direct from the mine cars into a crusher from which it is carried on a long conveyor belt up to the mill- Here it is again elevated and then dropped into the ball mill where it is pulverized and classified and then with the aid of water is pumped to the flotation unit. This unit, with: the aid of oils and chemicals, separates the metals from ! the rock thru an agitation process, the metals floalting to the top on the oil film air bubbles and then being I carried off to ore bins. The rock, or ' waste settles and is also flushed off to the tailings pond. j Thru this process from 96 to 98 per cent extraction of all metals in the ore are secured. This unit is now accomplishing this percentage of! extraction. Ore shipments will commence as soon as a car load of concenstrates is secured. n |
