Show UTAH AWAITS ELECTIONS THIS FALL Although only one candidate has filed for public office in elections to be held in Cache county this year, political actviity has been slowly gathering momentum. Throughout the state more than 350 vital offices in the various federal,, state and county governments govern-ments will ho ftUerf hv thu riH- sion of Utah voters this fall. The first test for offices will be September 1, when the primary vote will decide the contestants for the runoff elections. The second sec-ond election will be held October 6 with the final decision to come November 3. In Cache county the following officeholders of-ficeholders terms expire this fall. County commissioners William Worley of Logan and Leo C. Nielsen Niel-sen of Hyrum; Jeff Stowell, sheriff; sher-iff; Newell J. Crookston of North Logan; county clerk; R. A. Stwe-art. Stwe-art. River Heights, assessor; M. T. Beck, Logan, treasurer; Mrs. Ui-nor Ui-nor B. Hodgson, Logan, recorder; L. E. Nelson, county attorney and Eugene Schaub, surveyor. H. Ray Pond of Richmond, is the holdover commissioner. . Clerk Newell J. Crookston points out the .candidacy petitions must be filed between June 1 and August Au-gust 1, with the elections to be carried out i'.i conformity with the state ballot casting. Officials to be elected in November No-vember are shown on a list prepared pre-pared by Secretary of State E. E. Monson which has been submitted submit-ted to every county clerk. They are as follows: two members of the United States house of representatives; rep-resentatives; one justice of the supreme su-preme court for a ten year term; 60 members of the state house of representativs and in each county two commissioners, a treasurer, sheriff, clerk, recorder, surveyor, assessor and attorney and in each county with more than 20,000,000 valuation, an auditor; justices of the peace and constables in all precincts In the various counties and in cities of the first class, and constables in cities of a population of between 15.000 and 40,000. In addition to these, sixteen state senators must be elected, if twu now holding office are disqualified. |
