Show Weed Eradication Campaign Starts The campaign started some few years ago and the law which provides pro-vides for the eradication of weeds that prove a detriment to crops, will be continued and enforced to the letter, let-ter, according to advices sent from the sheriff's office and the office of the county farm agent. At letter has been compiled and is being forwarded for-warded to the local crop pest project pro-ject leaders ad to local farm bureau presidents with a view to starting an early campaign. The letter being mailed is as follows: "It is now time to do active work on our weed eradication program. According to State Statute session laws of Utah 1921, which provides that every person, company or corporation, cor-poration, owning, controlling or occupying oc-cupying lands in this state once in each year and oftener if required as hereinafter provided, shall cut or destroy all weeds known as Canadian Thistle, Bull Thistle, Burdock and Whitetop, before they seed. Any person, per-son, firm or corporation failing or neglecting to remove and destroy weeds as herein required shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished as provided by law. ' f "It will be absolutely necessary for you men as local crop pest project pro-ject leaders to notify these companies, compan-ies, corporations, etc., and individuals by public announcement, posters, etc., that this law must be complied with; it will be further necessary for your local organization to report delinquents de-linquents to the County Sheriff's office. of-fice. Without your cooperation in this matter it will be impossible with the funds provided, for the sheriff and county agent to do. effective effec-tive work. You mav use this letter as your authority when appearing before the companies in presenting the matter." |
