Show ! CIVIC LEADERS CALL 'MEETING ON ROAD! WORK FOR JUNE 27 Civic Clubs of Southern Utah Hold Regular Monthly Meeting at Loa LOA A special meeting of county commissioners from all southern Utah counties was tentatively called for June 27 in Richfield by directors of the Associated Civic Clubs of Southern Utah, at their June meeting here Saturday. It is intended to discuss prospects of counties taking road contracts as an unemployment measure, and to insure in-sure representation in the event of an apportionment of federal funds for use by states, counties and cities. The conference was decided upon as part of the association program aimed at the reduction of unemployment unemploy-ment in southern Utan towns, and also al-so to increase the building of roads where needed. State Aid Sought Action by the directorate of the club will be taken also to secure the cooperation of the state road com mission. Stressing the urgency of alleviating alleviat-ing the condition of banks, both closed clos-ed and open, the committee on banks reported that the inadequacy of the present methods and rulings was resulting re-sulting in hundreds of applications for relief being refused, even though the aid might be forthcoming under slightly changed conditions. Upon the motion of S. E. Tanner, Wayne county director, efforts will be made to obtain an appropriation from forest service funds now available for the completion and improvement of the Fremont-Emery road. Mr. Tanner stressed the value of such improvement, saying it would open a scenic and trade route. Banquet Follows Session Advertising authorized by the directors di-rectors included issuing of an illustrated illus-trated pamphlet for distribution to Olympic travelers next month. Arthur Meeks of Loa was master of ceremonies at a banquet attended by more than 125 persons which followed fol-lowed the business session. Tanner, Tan-ner, Loa; Benjamin Cameron, Jr., Panguitch; Dr. Parley L. Holman, Mt. Pleasant, all directors. What was perhaps the keynote of the meeting was struck by Dt. Holman, Hol-man, who importuned his listeners to demand representation in all relief measures, and to carry their fight to the polls this fall, if necessary. July Meeting Set It was decided to hold the July meeting of the club at Fish Lake, probably July 16 and 17.
