Show VFW post names new commander; auxiliary officers are installed Jack Rowland VFW Post 5787 has named Jack Rowland as commander replacing Leonard Zobell, retiring re-tiring commander who has served ser-ved the post for the past two years. The incoming commander has been active in Post 5787 for the past several years, having hav-ing served as junior vice-commander and senioi vice-com-mender as well as filling important im-portant committee assignments. Commander Sowland was installed in-stalled last Saturday at Oak Crest Inn by Garth Hales, senior vice-commander for the State of Utah from Salt Lake City. In addition to the new commander, com-mander, other officers for the post who were installed included in-cluded Ray Lopez, senior vice-commander; vice-commander; Keith Brown, junior jun-ior vice-commander; James Mason, quartermaster; Fred Crane, judge advocate; Roland Hansen, chaplain; Homer Shepherd, Shep-herd, surgeon; Leonard Zobell, adjutant; James Mason, service ser-vice officer; Cliff Mace, legislative legis-lative officcer and Dan Alle-man, Alle-man, legislative officer. Outgoing commander Zobell was presented with a past commander's com-mander's pin and a past cocm-mander's cocm-mander's ring by post members. mem-bers. Auxiliary installed At i the dinner meeting attended at-tended by the VFW Auxiliary members, Mrs. Fred (Dona) Crane was installed as the new president replacing Vera Zobell who has served for the past twe years as president of the group. Marie Mason, Department Depart-ment ot Utah Chaplain was installing in-stalling officer for the ladies. Mrs. Zobell was presented with the outgoing president's past officers guard. Other officers of the auxiliary auxil-iary who were installed were Ruth Alleman, senior vice-president; vice-president; Venice Beals, junior vice president; Marie Mason, treasurer; Betty Bringhurst, secretary; Marie Hansen, chaplain; chap-lain; Connie Shepherd, conductress conduc-tress ;Un? Richards, guard and Vera Zobell, three-year trustee. Program given Following the installation, 35 members enjoyed the dinner and program. Patricia Alleman and Dee Pace presented a musical mu-sical selection followed by a reading, "I Speak for Democracy" Democ-racy" by Mr. Pace. Lt. Col. Vernon Tipton, U.S. Army retired, re-tired, gave a very informative talk and showed slides of his, travels in foreign countries while in the service working with preventative medicine. |
