Show Student teachers spend time at junior high For the past several weeks, Springville Junior High School has had a group of math teachers tea-chers from Brigham Young University. H a r vey Horner, Margaret Hill, and Patricia Hatch are doing their student teaching as a team. They are working with some of Mr. Ralph Snelson's ninth grade classes in an experimental program pro-gram called I-Step, which stands for Individualized Secondary Sec-ondary Teachei Education Program. Pro-gram. The idea of this program is to accomplish certain objectives objec-tives pertaining to methods and the concepts of teaching. These objectives include things like lesson plans, micro-teaching, concepts on values, etc. If the student teachers accomplish a particular number of these objectives ob-jectives they are permitted to student teach. The objective of the semester is to motivate the student teacher as well as to individualize instruction in order or-der that the student teachers can use these ideas to motivate the students. Another objective is to introduce the student teachers tea-chers to innovate concepts. The student teachers have tried to individualize the learning learn-ing experiences of the students. stu-dents. In order to accomplish this objective classes are broken bro-ken into groups according to their understanding; the groups are then taught according to their ability. |
