She would do just about anything to make her kids happy. Her husband, Roy Travis, has been in Saudi Arabia for almost nine months, and in that time she has managed to take care of four kids by e herself and work as a full-tim- registered nurse at St. Benedict's Hospital. Sometimes, when she works shifts, she will go without sleep for two or three days just so me and my two sisters don't have to watch our little brother. ur FRONT TINE TILLERS 5-H.- P. r My mother is also very supportive of me and my sisters. She supports us the most with our education. This is because she wants us to go through college and have a very successful life. She really stresses the part about going to college because she doesn't want us to end up in the same situation she was in. She didn't go to college until she was 30 years old and she didn't get a job before that because she didn't think that getting a job was very important. Finally, she decided that she needed to do something besides sit around all day. That's when she decided to apply to Weber State College and her life has been better ever since. My mom is also very open about her feelings. If something is bothering her, she will tell us. If she is going to make a decision that could affect our future, she will ask us and if we don't think it is a good idea she won't do it because she wants what is best for us (me and my sisters). Those are the reasons I think my mom is the best mom in the world. David Prince sponsored an essay contest Youngsters turned in essays of 500 words or less on why their mom is the best The winning essay follows. It was written by David Prince, a ninth grader at North Davis Junior High School David's mom will receive a plaque, a bouquet, a $20 gift certificate to the base exchange and dinner at the base restaurant 12-ho- f !
