Show LIFETIMES Small Business Week Qtt.ce cf Smail anj Disadvantaged Bjs;ness Ut.toation President Bush has proclaimed May 1991, as Small Business Week, a week set aside to honor the successful small businesses in the country. During the week, ceremonies were held at the White House for winners of the many small business awards, A luncheon and awards banquet was held by the Small Business Administration in conjunction with the Governor's Conference on Economic Development on April 30 in Salt Lake City. The Small Business Office at Hill AFB participated in this event which not only honored small businesses, but 5-1- 1, also provided a workshop giving additional training to these businesses. The Small Business Office at Hill is actively promoting small businesses by counseling on how to do business with the Air Force and by managing the various small business programs. The office administers the small business e program as well as the business disadvantaged program. This includes working with the Small Business Administration on a local, regional and national level to award contracts under Section 8(a) of the Small Business Act. The women-ownebusiness program is also administered by the local small business 777-414- office. Ogden Air Logistics Center had a successful year according to small business officials. In fiscal 1990, Hill awarded the following contract dollars in each of the various categories: small business awards, $222.8 million; small disadvantaged business, $52.6 million; and women-owne- d business, $16.5 million.
