Show BOULDER DAM WATER TO FLOOD VALUABLE LANDS Land owners of the doomed town of St. Thomas and vicinity will receive re-ceive an average of nearly $2,000 each for their holdings which will be flooded by the 100 mile Boulder project "lake." They are learning for the first time just what Uncle Sam will pay them for their lands. The price to be received will average aver-age slightly less than $40 an acre. The farmers and landholders of the Moapa and Virgin valleys who will have to relinquish their lands when the water backed up by Hoover dam commences to rise, will receive from ?2.50 to $900 an acre for their lands, the total number of tracts to be pur- ! chased by Uncle Sam being 266, ac- ' cording to Construction Engineer Valker Young. j Figuring on the basis of about half I a million dollars ,the total appraisal I value of the lands and improvements 1 the rate per acre would average bout $39.55. Land owners will receive payment for preferred stock in the Muddy Valley Irrigation company at the rr.te of $100 a share ,and common stock at $6 a share. Sale contracts ,after they are filled out, will be sent to Washington, D. C, for final execution. |
