Show Viona Carroll Earl Beck Viona Hilda Johnson Carroll, 81, died Sunday, Sun-day, Nov. 2, 1986 in American Fork. She was born Aug. 28, 1905 in Leamington, Utah to John Taylor and Eliza Ockerman Johnson. She married Vincent Daniel Carroll Feb. 2, 1925 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. Tem-ple. She was a member of the American Fork 5th Ward of the LDS Church, and served as a primary teacher as well as a stake missionary for five years. Survivors include her husband, two sons and two daughters, Cecil D. Carroll, Tacoma, Wash. ; John Carroll and Mrs. Betty Record, both of Los Angeles, Calif.: and Mrs. Mary Davis, Cashion, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; one brother and four sisters, Vernal Johnson, Diamond Springs, Calif.; Pearl Cagle, Downey, Calif. ; Leola Stevens, St. George; and Lila Bowers and Elva Stewart, both of American Fork. Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the American Fork 5th Ward chapel. Burial was in the American Fork Cemetery. 1 Romulus A. Shields Earl A. He had served as Music Supervisor for the Alpine Stake and later for the Timpanogos . He attended schools I jj Spanish Fork and received his Batchelors " degree from BYU. He taught school in the " Alpine School District, i as principal of the ' Vineyard Elementary I i , L x, ' ; x : School, taught music in the schools throughout the district, taught dance in the schools throughout the Alpine School District. He did post graduate work at the University of Utah, University of Southern California, University of Washington and at Banff University in Canada. He taught square dancing at BYU for 23 years. He also organized many square dance clubs throughout Utah County. He was a veteran of World War I, and was presently serving as Commmander of the Utah County World War I Veterans and State Chaplain for World War I Vets. He had served on the Pleasant Grove City Council during two administrations. He had served as City Judge. He was a member of the American Legion and the Lions Club. He is survived by his wife of Pleasant Grove; a son and three daughters: Earl A. Beck, Littleton, Colorado; Mrs. Frederick R. Bob (Ruth) Shoell, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Philip (Pearl) Heilbut, Fresno, California; Mrs. Richard L. (Gwen) Rowley, Salt Lake City; 20 grandchildren; grand-children; 51 greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Mrs. Newell K. (Vera) Budge, Roy, Utah; Nora Langford, Brigham City. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove Stake Center, 500 South at 200 East. Friends may call Wednesday at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery under the direction of Olpin Family Mortuary. Romulus A. Shields, 88, died Oct. 28, 1986 in the West Millard Center. He was born Aug. 27, 1898 in Lake View, Tooele Co., Utah to James G. and Sarah Matilda Adamson Shields. His early life was spent at Stockton, Utah, moving to the Delta area in 1910 with his parents. He married JaCosa Jane Theobald Oct. 1, 1919 in Fillmore, Utah; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Dec. 25, 1976. In the 1930's, he moved his family to Idaho Falls, Idaho, later to Jerome, Idaho, returning to Delta where he has resided most of his life since, except for a brief time in American Fork and in Rupert, Idaho. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in the various organizations, including bishop of the Sugarville Ward. He was a farmer and carpenter and a veteran ofWWI. He is survived by sons and daughters, R. Doyle Shields, American Fork; Mrs. Clifford j (Ilene) Harris, Rupert, ! Idaho; Mrs. Levi j (Verlin) Gifford, j Jerome, Idaho; James j Laurence Shields, Delta; 27 grand- children; 77 great- j grandchildren; 15 great- j great grandchildren; j brothers, Rodney', ; Delta; LaVar (Buss), j Salt Lake City. A son, Tracy, preceded him in i death. Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 1 in the Delta Second LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Hinckley Cemetery. Madge O. Thomas Dezzie West Wadley Madge Oberhansley Thomas, .82, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1986 in Pleasant Grove. She was born Feb. 5, 1904 in Payson to John Edward and Almina Ursula Spencer Oberhansley. She married William Blair Thomas Sept. 20, 1929 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died ir May of 1969. She received her high school education in Payson. She was a graduate of BYU in 1925 where she majored in English. She taught at Provo High and then in San Bernardino, Calif, from 1944 until her retirement in 1960. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers with the Springville Camp. She was a member of the LDS Church and taught in most of the auxiliaries. She was an artist working with pastels and water-colors. water-colors. Survivors include one son and one daughter: John Blair Thomas, Orem; and Mrs. John (Patricia) Tanner, Fresno, Calif. ; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, one sister: Curtis Oberhansley, Spanish Fork, and Fern O. Tanner, Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by one son. Services were held Thursday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. in the Huff-Linde Funeral Home, Spanish Fork. She married Hugh Wadley, , July 6, 1967 in Elko, Nev. He died Dec. 6, 1S80. She married George Salazar - they were later divorced. She was a member of the LDS Church living in the Pleasant Grove 15th Ward. She attended schools in Pleasant Crave and lived there ai of her life. She . had been employed at Pleasant Grove ' Camming Camm-ing Co. for many years. She is survived by four . sons and two daughters: Harold Wootton, Daleville, Alabama; Beverly Wagner, Coos Bay, Oregon; Bert Wootton, Orem; Danny Wootton, Long Beach, Calif. ; Varian Wootton, Lehi; Mary Parker, Erda, Utah; 19 grandchildren; grand-children; 6 greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; a brother; Sherwood West, Pleasant Grove. She was preceded in death by a brother Varian West, two sisters, Thora Clawson and Glida Kirkham, and a grandson, Paul Williamson. Funeral services were Monday at 11 a.m. - at Olphr-Family-'MoF'-tuary, 500 South at 300 East, Pleasant Grove. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
