Show South Tract Review The sun shines bright, the air is warm, Spring's here, that is a cinch; For looking o'er my field of wheat, I find it's grown an inch. The lueern too shows signs of life, SmaTl leaves of emerald green Are showing now upon each " crown, With foxtail in between. Of course spring's here. I'm sure it is, Or Dixon couldn't plow; And if you tell him it's too wet, You'll sure get in a row. Why, don't you know he's got his ground For barley all prepared, " He's going to sow it right away, He's not a trifle scared That cold old winter might come -back, And kill its tiny roots, Or just a common old white frost Would blight the tender shoots. And Evans, Will, or Bill for short, Who in the Lord does trust, . Says "Spring is here and I must work, Or this year I go bust." There's Whitmore, Burt and Johnson, Frank, Chas. Hardin, Nelson, Hire, Says sure spring's here, for were it not The rneadowlark's a liar. Now Elmer, Carl and the Pearson Pear-son boys Speak up right strong by gum, And do assert if spring's not here, She sure will never come. Then Joe Fidel is just as sure, That spring has come to stay, The weather now so indicates, Old nature seems so gay. Joe's hogs look fine, a carload lot, Both day and night he digs, To find more grain, tho spring is here, To feed those pesky pigs. Well, when you pass just take-a ' look, ' At Folsom, Lund and Freese, Run out their plows for instant work, Clean off the axle grease, j They know spring's here and well they may, We're done with cold and snow, And then their neighbors E. A. Brush, And Thurston told them so. Last fall did Saunders hibernate, ; Comes out this spring quite strong, ' And turns a spill you would not guess, It was an awful wrong, i He sounded up McPherson Mack, i With argument and pluck, 1 And traded him his water ranch, For the 40 owned by Tuck. We have a bunch on Ten Mile i -Wash, 1 Who think thayve got a hunch, : Are watching every movement i of This Greater Delta bunch. I The question they will pat to , them, In accents which will ring, Is, "Are you here for business, , Or to celebrate for spring." |
