Show success of new farm act hinges 0 on n cooperation if the farmers of this his t co n ay iy really eally see their problem and get behind the present effort to solve it we will win if no we must lose N E dodd chaiman of iha ahe oregon tata coi co i ei committee told utah otah laemers in a recent series of demings conducted under the auspices of the utah stats state agricultural colea extension service ce 1 I hate lo io clr what fa failure to solve the farm problem will mean to Anic american rican agriculture mr mra dodd insisted pointing out that no one else except the farmer will make any effort to solve the farm problem and that the success of the program directly hinges on the cooperation which the rural people give under the new farm act the conservation program goes on almost the same as for the past two years mr dodd said there will be slight changes but payments will be on the same fundamental bases either a shift from soil de plating to soil conserving crops on the farm land or the conduct of certain approved soil saving atto erfa S the new farm act as passed last february the farmer who raises wheat will be eligible for a special payment crop insurance and government loan privileges mr dodd said payments and privileges will come if the farmer does his part toward assuring an adequate food supply and helps to carry out the provisions of the 1938 program because prospects for a good wheat price this year are not particularly ticul arly bright there will be a series of acreage allott ments set up under the new act mr dodd explained these will be designed to limit the surplus and insure a good return to the wheat producer meetings in the series were held at nephi provo west jordan tremonton Tre monton and logan and mr aqda was a guest of the state jsu 4 er committee by pro UZ on a farmer mr dodd has been influential in shaping the governments program for farm relief |
