With a view to effecting a porma-nent porma-nent organization for the American Legion Auxiliary of Gunnison, the ladies who have been instrumental in creating enthusiasm in the movement move-ment and others eligible for membership, mem-bership, will meet at the Kozi Place and select permanent officers for the ensuing year. The officers will consist con-sist of a president, a secretary, ticasurcr and a historian. In addi-' tion to the officers committees for the different departments will be chosen and other means will be adopted to launch the organization and put it in active operation. The meeting will be called at 8 o'clock this (Friday) evening and those who are members and all other eligibles are most urgently asked to be present. pres-ent. The constitution of the American Auxiliary provides by section 1, for the eligibility to membership, and is ys follows: "Any person shall be eligible for membership in the American Legion Auxiliary who is a wife, mother, sister or daughter of a man or woman who is a member of the American Legion or who was in the naval or military service ser-vice of the United States at some time between April 6, 1917, and November 11, 1918, and who died in line of duty or after honorable discharge and prior to November 11, 1920, or persons who stand in a similar position in their various states." The American Legion Auxiliary of Gunnison, although not permanently perma-nently organized as yet, promises to be a large factor in support of the American Legion. Approximately fifteen members have thus far signed sign-ed the membership roll and it is believed be-lieved that this number -will eventually eventu-ally be doubled. The local organization is planning plan-ning several social functions and when the year officers arc selected and the several committees named it is intended to give several such functions. |
