Show Committees Namer For Big Celebration ! Further steps haw been taken by Gunnison Guard Mount, Post. KM, j American Legion, towards staging a :big celebration in this citv on July ; 1th. At a meeting held Wednesday j night tentative plans were mapped .and several committees named to 1 take charge of arrangements for the ! event. The enthusiasm displayed by the Legion boys is an indicator that i something will be doing and while j t he initiative has been taken by them i they will ask suggestions from the business men and others that the celebration will be one of the biggest and best ever pulled off in Southern Utah. The plans and activities for the day have been tentatively mapped out and members of the organization have been appointed to complete the, arrangements. Rcviclle will be sounded at sunrise sun-rise and S. J. Baxter will see to it that there will be a "sudden awaken- ing" on the morning of the fourth. There will be a parade, with business busi-ness men's floats, a Goddess of Liberty Lib-erty and everything. F. 11. Jones will supervise the arrangement for this feature. At the patriotic meeting, where speeches, singing and music will prevail, pre-vail, L. G. Anderson will head the committee. There will be a banquet at the Gunnison Valley High school for the members of the Legion, Legion Auxiliary, Aux-iliary, city officials and the press and the ladies of the Auxiliary will supervise su-pervise this event. The park athletics and concession, to precede a ball game, will be head-ad head-ad by Albert Newman. Mina Beauregard, manager of the ball team, and J. B. Hoper, secretary-treasurer secretary-treasurer of the same organization, will line up a team of ball players that will contest with the local players. play-ers. Rex Kearns ha been named to head the committee on fireworks and he announces that the pyrotechnic display will surpass anything ever staged in Sanpete county. This event will be staged just before the big concluding number, the dance. The big dance, in which the Legion and the ward Sunday school will cooperate co-operate in the division of the fuues, will be a hummer and for the occasion occa-sion the very best of music will be secured. Arrangements are being made ;3 have the Gunnison City band in line for patriotic music during the entire day an d with the combination of all there is every reason to believe that the celebration in this city will act as a magnet and draw crowds from everv valkv community, the north end of the county and even ar far as from Salt La'ke. j C.
