Show nitc instructions and definite plans from the office of The American Legion Le-gion Weekly. They have been putting put-ting a whole lot of thought and effort ef-fort into planning this, so when the day comes you will have all the dope ready to shoot. If your post gets just ten more members and every post does the same that means over a hundred thousand new members. BUT WE WANT 'EM ALL. It's easy to sit back and say "Let George do it," BUT you know it's team work that counts. Make up your mind that you and your post will put one big concentrated effort into this one day JULY 1. And we'll be sitting pretty. It was the oid team work and stick-together spirit that won the war. Let's show the world that we're still there and that we are going to make this the best old outfit that the world has ever known. All right, old man, we're off and we're looking to you. LET'S GO. Gunnison Mount Guard, Post 104, will have a strong delegation going to Logan in September when Han-ford Han-ford Mac Nider, national commander command-er of the American Legion, will be present at the fourth annual department depart-ment convention of Utah. When the date for the convention was announced an-nounced steps were immediately taken tak-en to have the local post represented represent-ed and to this end some ten or twelve delegates will be named. It is proposed pro-posed to have members of the baseball base-ball club go and play in the games that will be staged. The dates for the convention will be September 21, 22 and 23. I know how you. have been plugging for the Legion, Le-gion, old man, and the many things you have to do. BUT I want you to put your one big effort into one final fin-al spurt this year, and we are not going to holler again. You fellows have been fine. I want to thank you officially and personally per-sonally for the splendid support you have given the National Organization. Organiza-tion. It is from you we get our inspiration in-spiration from your membership the power and prestige that will put across these things we are fighting for. And let me tell you, you can well be proud of what you have acom-plisLed acom-plisLed 'for the disabled, the unemployed, unem-ployed, for the country, and for your community, and in fact for all of us. Just for example, every bit of legislation legis-lation now in effect for the disabled man or for any ex-service men which is now on the statute books was not only written, pushed, but put through Congress by The American Amer-ican Legion. You know the many other things. However, one man out of every four can't be expected to carry the packs of the other three that is exactly ex-actly what we of The Legion are doing. do-ing. We wane to correct that situation. situ-ation. This is the big Legion year and the year that is going to tell the story. SATURDAY, JULY 1, is NATIONAL NATION-AL MEMBERSHIP DAY. We want your help in putting your post over its last year's membership with your department leading the union. Perhaps your post is already over. If you are go out and help the rest of 'em get in. Personally we are putting every bit of effort we have in making this the big constructive con-structive Legion year. ARE YOU WITH ' ME ? This is no private fight. It's a general engagement all along the line with the whole works in it from the lad just on the dotted line to the last cootie engineer. Get your post organized appoint some hard hitting hit-ting committees get your whole organization or-ganization ready with such a wallop that every ex-service man and woman wo-man in your community will belong to the post before that day is over. So that on the morning of the day itself, we can MOVE OUT SHOVE OFF or whatever they hollered in your outfit when they wanted ACTION. The whole United States is watching us and what's a darn sight more important, im-portant, there are a lot of buddies who need help, compensation and an understanding of what The Legion has done and intends to do for them. Let's get them a square deal, show them we can't any of us get one if we don't all stick along and help. I am not going to try to go into all the details. You will get defi- |
