' it H RED CROSS OFFICEJSJ'B Two Chosen to Replace Resigned Re-signed Members ; Former Staff Retained. The annua) election of officers of (he Salt Lake County Bed Cross took place yesterday. With two exceptions the former oi'fit?rs were reelected. Mayor Ferry was reelected chairman of the Salt Lako C6unty Eed Cross, with Miss Kate Williams vice chairman, John C. Cutler treasurer and Mrs. Y. 0. Cleland secretary. , Robert J. Shields, formerly manager of the chapter, was chosen chairman of the executive committee, succeeding E. O. Howard, resigned. J. .1'. Redman Red-man was chosen chairman of the Salt Lako County Civilian Eolicf committee of the lied Cress, succeeding Joy II. Johnson, resigned. The executive committee reelected "Wednesday expressed appreciation of the services of Mr. Howard and Mr. Johnson. It was decided upon motion that a resolution be framed and sent to Mr. Howard in appreciation of his service. II. Byrne, who presented the resolution, said that Mr. Howard, as head of the executive committee, had assisted in every way to make the Red Cross work successful during the war. He told how 11:.: headquarters had been moved first from the public safety building to the K.?ith-0 'Bric-n building, build-ing, and to Amelia Palace, the present headquarters, under Mr. Howard's direction. di-rection. Mr. Howard in tendering his resignation, resig-nation, said that with the end of the war he. felt it imperative to devote his energies entirely to other matters calling call-ing for his immediate attention. The committee voted to send a personal per-sonal . letter to Herbert Van Dam, Jr., and the Kiwanis club for their services in the recent third Red Cross roll call. The Red Cross will continue to operate op-erate at the present leadqua iters. Mrs. Cielaml will be in charge of the office at 70 Kast South Temple street. |
