Show THE CLIFFORD PEST. After witnessing one act of bandy legged chorus girls and laugh-stifling comedians in the Billy "Single" Clifford collection at the Colonial I this week in a musical bilge called "The Girl, the Man and The Game," one is Inclined to hesitate between two courses of action. The original instinct is strong for grabbing a club and starting for the box office. Reflection, however, keeps one seated out of curiosity to see whether the last act could pos- fj sibly be worse than the first. Tho same job lot of soiled lingerie and dough-faced dough-faced funny-men were inflicted on Salt Lakers Lak-ers and their visitors last year during Fair and Conference week, and it is understood un-derstood that the manager succeeded In getting out of town with quite a little bank roll as evidence of the gulibillty of those whose theatre-going opportunities are limited and the effectiveness of unscrupulous advertising. Just why, however, the Colonial should Inflict this piece of theatrical carrion on its patrons a second sec-ond time is not quite clear. There isn't an excuse in the world for it and no one knows this better than John Cort. ! |
