I The Darts, cheered on by a bois terous home crowd, took hold of the lead early in the first quarter and refused to relent, ending the Vikings' Vik-ings' 11-game winning streak and avenging a 10-point overtime loss to the Vikes on Dec. 21, which, incidentally, in-cidentally, put the brakes on the Darts' own win-streak. Viewmont's Tyler Gledhill sank the game-opening bucket giving the Vikes a 2-0 lead. That was the first and last lead Viewmont would en-Point en-Point totals Davis Clark FinLinson, 0, Todd Heath, 10, Bret Barton, 11, Travis Homer, 12, Ryan Hovey, 20, Dave Isaacson, 7, Jim Howard, 2, Matt Peterson, 11. But last night's Region 1 battle differed slightly from the teams last meeting. Key players weren't the usual faces that have led both Viewmont and Davis to the top of the region. Instead of leading scorers Bret Barton and Travis Homer blazing the way to the Davis win, 6-foot-3 senior Ryan Hovey quietly led all scorers with a game-breaking 20 points, seven of which came from the line. Hovey also pulled down five rebounds to spur his team its fifth region win in seven tries. "Ryan is a player that improves every g ame, Davis coach Jay Welk said. "We're really pleased with his contributions to the team. He scored a quiet 20 points; it didn't seem like he had that many. "But every time we needed a big basket tonight, Hovey was there." Welk said. Darts Travis Homer, Matt Peterson Peter-son and Bret Barton trailed Hovey with 12, 11 and 11 respectively while Todd Heath rounded out Davis' five shooters in double figures fig-ures with 10 points. Peterson came off the bench and scored all 11 points in the second half. SEE DARTS ON A1 2 The loss to Davis will be a sober-ing sober-ing one said Viewmont coach Clyde Nc4son.
