Show Smith enters international contest BOUNTIFUL A poster by a South Davis High School student has been entered in international competition, competi-tion, it was learned this week. After winning first place in the state, Josh's entry has now been entered among hundreds of winning posters in international competition. The winner of this top-level competition competi-tion will receive $1,500 cash and an expense-paid trip with his or her parents to visit the United Nations in New York City, where winners will be honored. Willis Ure, president of the North Salt Lake Lions Club, said Josh's entry en-try best depicted the contest theme: "People of Peace." Josh described the entry as being a circular picture of international flags "with arms extended and holding hands ' in a tribute to peace. An honor student with a 3.4 grade-point grade-point average, Josh has been interested inter-ested in art for several years, but this is the first contest he has entered. His art teacher is Carolyn Blundell. "I like the poster, especially the theme," said Josh, who was too modest to speculate on his chances of winning. He is a son of Shanna Hale and Jeff Smith. Josh Smith, a seventh-grade art student at SDJHS, entered his poster in school competition, competi-tion, a contest sponsored by the North Salt Lake Lions Club.
