Show Andersen 'Outstanding - Educator' for District 1 8 r By KRIS JOHNSON BOUNTIFUL It's no wonder that Bountiful Junior High math teacher Marilyn Andersen, was voted "Outstanding Educator for District trouble, I lead them through by asking them questions. When they say I can't do this, I say sure you can, let's work on it," she said "I want each student to learn as much as he is capable of learning. I work on getting my students to believe in themselves. Sometimes that takes a little doing, ' ' said Andersen, who has a reputation for helping anyone that walks through her classroom door and spending extra time with kids. Andersen takes an unusual approach ap-proach to teaching, in that she helps each child find their natural, inner strengths. "I try to make my students feel good about trying so that they are willing to work harder at things, instead in-stead of giving up. I work with them r and encourage them, and provide experiences ex-periences where they have success' she said. "I care about the kids and they know that I care about them. They know its important to me that they do well. I've had a lot of these kids for a couple of years, and after a while they feel like your own kids, I enjoy them all," Andersen said. The ' ' Outstanding Educator' ' teaches seventh grade pre algebra and plaiii, and solid geometry to eighth and ninth nin-th graders. She has written mamV computer programs for the WEMATH network that teachers use as a teaching aid for their students in the learning process.
