Show AUTO PLAYS TRICKS ON YOUNG MECHANIC DRIVERLESS CAR SHATTERS WINDOW L OF PENNEY STORE ' A miserable piece of luck befell Tom Schow last Friday, when he cranked a car left in reverse gear. The car was left standing on the east side of Main street. Tom, who is employed by Nichols and Zabriskie, went to move the car, not knowing that someone had left the clutch forward. for-ward. The car, with the throttle fairly fair-ly wide open, spun a backward arc, and crashed into the window of the Penney store before Tom could say "Jack Robinson" or other appropriate words. The glass of the1 window display compartment was shattered and the flooring and lighting within the show area was pretty badly demolished. A woman with a little child was in the entrance of the Penney store but they escaped. The window has been completely repaired this week. n |
