Show MYSTEH7 IN DEATH OF' : HOTEL GUEST; fOISON ' : V:-?:-B.. -PCDND JN-H1S "ROOM i A half-emptied bottle of morphine sulphate found beside the body of John Sullivan of Cascade, Mont., in a room at the Valley house, told the Coroner another an-other tale of suicide this morning. , , " V - Sullivan registered at the Valley house about 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon and paid 25 cents for a room for a day. He went to the room at once, and was not seen by the hotelkeeper again. 5 . Fred S.wensen, proprietor of the house, was whitewashing the corridor outside out-side the room occupied by Sullivan, and feeling ' curious because ,he had not seen the man since he registered, looked over the transom, and saw him lying dead on the bed. , Swensen burst open the door at once, and then notified J. W. Taylor, the undertaker, un-dertaker, and' the Coroner. A Coroner's Jury was convened and the body was removed to the undertaking establishment where Sullivan's effects were examined. exam-ined. - ' ' ' In the man's pocket was found an eighth of an ounce bottle of morphine sulphate, sul-phate, about half emptied. There was a half pint whisky bottle, partly full, and 5 cents in money. . . ' ... ; In another pocket was found a slip of paper bearing the name of Charles Miller, Twenty-second battery, Fort .Douglas. The dead man was unknown at the Valley house, and bo far as known had no acquaintance here. He was of magnificent physique, and weighed at least 185 pounds. His hair, which was thinned, was brown and he was smooth faced. He was five feet eight Inches in height.' ' V " - Masonic and Odd Fellows' emblems were found on Sullivan's clothing. |
