'. : ; In the report for the past two years filed by State Superintendent of Schools Nelson it is shown that Utah is paying more per capita to educate her children than any other State in the' Union with the exception of Nevada. ' In 1902 $5.20 per capita was expended on education in this State and $5.30 in Nevada, In South Carolina, where the cost of education is the lowest, only 67 cents was expended per capita. Superintendent "Nelson explains the cause of thjs high rate by saying that a larger percentage of the population of - Utah Is within the school age than in any other State, and that there are fewer few-er male adults to every 1C0 children in .Utah than in other States. .
