Summit and Wasatch counties. The law on the statute books now reads that the territory of one county cannot be annexed to another without the consent con-sent of a majority of voters in the territory terri-tory to be segregated, and also in the territory to which the addition is to be made.': - . '. . Representative Lee of Carbon county will present a bill to remedy this defect. Carbon county wants the strip of land in Utah county containing the-town of Colton, and the Colton people would not be averse to the change. ', Another proposition is to separate Salt Lake City from the rest of the county, forming a - new county, with Murray as Its county seat. - Still another anoth-er plan is to annex that part of Summit county containing Park City to either the new county or to Wasatch county. At the last session of the Legislature a law was passed providing for the merging of two counties, but it has never been taken advantage of. It was passed for the benefit of San Juan and Emery counties, which had a desire to merge,, but afterward decided to retain their individuality. f . i ' |
