Show FOREIGNERS ARE CURSED , LONDON,' Jan. 15. Letters received j here recently from Fes, . Morocco, say that 'the rapidly growing anti-European sentiment necessitated the hurried departure de-parture from that city of the American missionary, Mr. Simpson, his wife and three English women. For a few days prior, to their departure the women were openly cursed in the streets, the Moors shouting as they passed, "What's this filth in our street? - When the American missionaries from Mequines arrived at Fex, the Moors exclaimed: ex-claimed: "Oh. God! We thought they were sending the cursed dogs from us, but they are coming back," ; . Subsequently a body of armed mountaineers moun-taineers met . the women and wheeled round and cursed them In chorus. . The missionaries were specially urged from authoritative quarters to leave as soon as possible. Mr. and Mrs. Simpson intend in-tend to remain at Tangier for the present. |
