representing States Territories and jioMsesalonslhe Philippines being represented by a boy Master Brown Smoot Above and back oC tho States and Territories appeared the Godless God-less of Liberty Miss Incs Knight Columbia Co-lumbia Miss Lydia Roberts and Utah Miss Jennlo JOhes beautiful and beau tifully attired They remained standing during the opening exercises with Capt Wedgwood and Scrgl BuchI Tanner the orator of Iho day Indulged In a brief retrospection of tho celebration In Proo In the dar of his I boyhood and then traced tim history oC I the country and Its roWlh ami prosperous development pointing out that dangers I to tho Natlo existence I had always boon overcome by Gods blessings and the patriotism I pa-triotism of the pcoplr and closed ivJth I eloquent words or faith and promise that all coming dangers would likewise be met and conquered and that the American peoplp would always be found equal to thy high responsibilities which the destiny of the worlds progress might commit to their care and be foremost among the nations In carrying the blessings of liberty i lib-erty to all the world Tho choir rendered n selection which was followed by a recitation Whispering Bill by Miss MIram Nelkc This pathetic pa-thetic selection brought tears to the eyes of many of the audience and was so well received that Mlis Nelko favored the as pembly Jim with n second
