Show THRW3S AT ESIRTS Observance of the Fourth By Salt Lakers THOUSANDS SEEk PLEASURE Fourth Spent Pleasantly Out of Town by a large Portion of Salt Lakes Population About Eight Thousand Weit to Saltair and Over Four Thousand to Lagoon Sports Attracted At-tracted large Numbers Peaco Marked the Observance of the Day in all Quarters Salt Lake had no set programme for its Fourth of July celebration this year but the day was passed in an enjoyable manner by thousands of people Tvho attended the various resorts and other places where pleasure Is catered to Many indulged in trips to the canyons and lo various towns The races and baseball games proved the strongest attractions to many during the day while others visited the resorts which In the evening were very heavily attended at-tended Sallalr was visited by probai bly 8000 people during the day a good percentage of whom went Into the wai > tcr The attendancetat Lagoon was esv timated by Manager Critchlow at overt l 1000 The horse races at Calders drow out about 2000 people and many more visited the grounds during the after < noon and evening The baseball game in the afternoon was fairly well patronIzed patron-Ized and the Salt Palace bicycle races attracted a big crowd to that resort About 2000 people were In attendance at the races in the evening and the entire attendance at the place during the day was estimated by the management manage-ment at between 1000 and 5000 A desultory round of firecrackers was kept up during the day but the racket was as nothing compared tothat of the early morning At night a con sidorable number of private displays oC fireworks were given some few balloons were sent up and tho day was remembered remem-bered generally throughout the city in manner patriotic and otherwise |
