' . - I It is almost positively, decided that the Utah National Guard will Join the troops of Port Douglas and Fort Duchesne in an encampment In Strawberry . valley this summer for actual field maneuvering- and campaign work. Nearly 2000 soldiers will be in camp in the valley. The troops from the army will remain about , two months. Each day of this time will be spent Jn field work, run drills, long marches and sham battles. x I At first two plans were considered. One was the Strawberry valley encampment, encamp-ment, the other a. big encampment near Cheyenne, Wyo., in which, the troops from" Fort Douglas and Fort Duchesne, Utah, and Fort Russell, Wyo., and the National Guards of both States would be mobilized ;This would mean nearly S0OO men in camp. The former1 plan' was considered . moet feasible. . . . ' ' , - - K --.The plans at present are that the troops will leave July 15th. -The regular troops will remain until September 15th, but the Guard Will return in two weeks. The Guard will be considered a part of the regular army .and will work as such . while on the trip. -- .The batteries from Fort Douglas. and those of the Guard will go across W country, while the infantry will go by rail to Heber'City, and march from there to camp. , , I !A large supply at ammunition will be taken for the batteries and the gun- riers will have daily practice in the hills.
