PUBLIC NOTICE Capitol Reef Proposes to Permit the Sandy Ranch to Install an Irrigation Pipeline into a Portion of Oak Creek (Bown) Irrigation Canal. Capitol Reef National Park, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, is making available for public review an environmental assessment of a proposal by the Sandy Ranch to install irrigation pipeline into a portion of Oak Creek (Bown) irrigation canal. The project area is on the Sandy Creek Benches adjacent to the eastern boundary of the park just south of Oak Creek in tiarfield County, Utah. This ! action is needed because the existing; canal, used by the ; Sandy Ranch via a valid Right ! of Way, washes out frequently, causing water loss, and the fre-; fre-; quent repairs required result in . resource damage. Installation of irrigation piping into portions of ; the canal is deemed the most appropriate means of preventing ; water loss and minimizing dam-! dam-! ages to natural resources. The Environmental Assessment will be on review . for 30 days. Copies are avail-. avail-. able for review at the Richfield ' Library, Richfield.
