Show Only Four Challenge Incumbents In County PANGUITCH - The office of the Garfield County Clerk reported that, by noon on Tuesday, only four had declared candidacy against the county's incumbents, all of whom. except the District 5 school board position, are seeking reelection. re-election. Filing opened on Mar. 7 . and Declarations of Candidacy will be received at the courthouse in Panguitch through 5 p.m. on Monday, Mar. 18. In state contests, local resident resi-dent Tom Hatch has filed for the State Senate race and his current state position as representative repre-sentative District 73 is being sought by two Kanab residents, Mike Noel and Robert Houston. In the in-county races, Joe Thompson of CannonviUe is challenging longtime County Assessor Tom Simkins who is seeking re-election. James D. Perkins, Panguitch, currently a Garfield County Sheriff's deputy, is challenging present office holder Sheriff Than Cooper, Panguitch. In school board elections, in District 5, current school board member Dell LeFevre of Boulder did not file for re-election. His seat is being sought by his wife, Gladys LeFevre and by Nile Sawyer of Hatch. District 5 includes Hatch, Antimony, Boulder and Ticaboo. County officers filing for reelection re-election were County Commissioners Maloy Dodds Commission Seat "A" (Panguitch area) and Clare Ramsay, Commission Seat "B" (Bryce Valley area); County Sheriff Than Cooper, County Attorney Wallace Lee; County Clerk Camille Moore; County Assessor Tom Simkins; County Treasurer Judy Henrie; and County Recorder Les Barker; for school board District 4, Trish' Thompson, CannonviUe; and for retention, Justice Court Judge John Yardley. |
